Dear Parents, Players, Coaches, Volunteers & Sponsors,

We continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and its potential implications to our players, parents, volunteers, sponsors and our upcoming 2020 season. The purpose of my email is to confirm that due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation that the Canada Rugby League Association (CRLA) and subsequently the Ontario Rugby League have decided to extended the suspension of all Rugby League activities nationally until at least June 8, 2020. We, in consultation with the CRLA and ORL continue to monitor the most recent developments and governmental advisories surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and are assessing the impact on our 2020 season on a month-to-month basis as the pandemic continues to unfold. The CRLA will re-evaluate the suspension with its provincial partners including the ORL no later than May 31st and provide further updates then.

Unfortunately unlike the original suspension, this decision directly affects the start of our season with our proposed Saturday, May 30 season kick off and the following Week 2, June 6 session both falling within the new June 8 moratorium. As a result we are considering multiple scenarios including the reality of a modified 2020 season, further potential postponements, the possibility of having to cancel our season and the issuing of partial or full refunds depending on a modified or cancelled season. As per the initial suspension announcement the ordering/purchase of team uniforms will continue to be placed on hold until such time as guarantee to our parents, players, volunteers and sponsors that our 2020 season will proceed.

As mentioned above the CRLA’s suspension of this season will be reviewed before May 31st. In the meantime, we will continue to monitor the situation and follow the directions of the CRLA, ORL, Haldimand County, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Health Canada as our main priority is to ensure the health and safety of our members.
