News and Announcements

Dear Parents, Players, Volunteers & Sponsors,

We have been closely monitoring the situation (COVID-19) pandemic and its potential implications to our players, parents, volunteers, sponsors and our upcoming 2020 season including the possibility of us having to delay or even cancel the season. The purpose of my email is to share the Canada Rugby League Association’s (CRLA) announcement below, regarding the suspension of all rugby activities nationally, immediately and until at least April 16 and our Board decision to delay the ordering of our team uniforms that was scheduled to be placed this week.

“With the rapidly developing situation of COVID-19 both globally, and at home, the Canada Rugby League Association (CRLA) has decided to suspend all rugby activities nationally, effective immediately, until at least April 16th. Municipal, provincial and national health authorities have issued separate advisories, but at this time, for the safety of our fans, officials, coaches and players we have decided to make this decision for the upmost of safety. The CRLA will re-evaluate the suspension with its Provincial partners before April 16th, and provide further updates then.”

While the CRLA’s announcement does not currently affect us as our season has not started, there are critical season preparation activities, in particular the ordering/purchase of team uniforms that the Board has decided to delay as we believe it is not prudent or appropriate to order team uniforms knowing that we can not guarantee to our parents, players, volunteers and sponsors that our 2020 season will proceed. As a result, it is expected that the current situation will result in one of the following scenarios including at best the season starting as scheduled with out uniforms, a delay to the start of the season with or without uniforms or at worst a cancellation of the season and the refunding of registration fees.

As mentioned above the CRLA’s suspension of this season will be reviewed by the CRLA before April 16th. In the meantime, we will continue to monitor the situation and follow the directions of the CRLA, Haldimand County, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Health Canada as our main priority is to ensure the health and safety of our members.

If you have any questions regarding the closure, please “Reply All” to this email so that we can provided a singular response to any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Please stay safe and take good care.

Regards

Welcome to Haldimand Wolfpack Rugby League Football Club! We are very happy to announce that Player Registration for our upcoming 2020 Season is now open.

We are a family friendly community based, not for profit sports club created to promote and grow the sport of Rugby league in the Haldimand County and Six Nations of the Grand River communities.

After a successful inaugural 2019 season, where we had 60 kids participate in our programs we look forward to our second year as a club and introducing the game of Rugby League to youth aged 2 to 16 years through our Mighty Wolfpups and Wolfpack Youth programs using the modified non-contact version of the game called Tag Rugby League and with our proud partnership with the Toronto Wolfpack, the first professional Rugby League team in North America and their Full80 Community Initiative.

Our aim is to provide a fun, safe, enjoyable and inclusive environment that encourages participants of all abilities, ages and backgrounds to enjoy, learn, develop and achieve their own personal successes and milestones through the game of Rugby League.

We offer two co-ed programs;

  • Mighty Wolfpups where the goal is to introduce as many children as possible between the ages of 2 and 6 to the basics of ball sports in a non-contact, fun, social and affordable setting and
  • Wolfpack Youth, which is for children and teenagers aged 7 to 16 years with U8/U10 and U12/U14/U16 co-ed age groups. This program is based on the modified version of Rugby League called Tag with a focus on fun and learning the basics.

Both programs will run for 12 weeks on Saturday mornings starting on May 30 and ending on August 29 at McKinnon Park Secondary School in Caledonia with the Mighty Wolfpups from 9:00am to 9:45am with the Wolfpack Youth session following from 10:00am to 11:00am. To ensure that everyone can enjoy their summer long weekends, sessions are not scheduled on Saturday, July 4 or Saturday, August 1.

Player Registration Fees, which include a Club T-Shirt, Shorts, Socks and a Ball are $100 for the Mighty Wolfpups and $125 for the Wolfpack Youth program.
